President of Uzbekistan meets with Amir of Kuwait

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Amir of Kuwait Meshal Al Sabah held a meeting in Kuwait City on February 17, followed by negotiations with the participation of official delegations, UzA reported.

The talks focused on further developing and strengthening the friendship and multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Kuwait.

The President of Uzbekistan also highlighted the successful implementation of Kuwait's state program Vision 2035, noting that its goals and objectives align with the long-term priorities of Uzbekistan's New Development Strategy.

The discussions highlighted the steady increase in political engagements and interagency exchanges and the sustained growth in mutual trade and investment.

Last year, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was successfully held, along with several essential business events.

Special attention was given to interaction in trade, economy, investment, innovation, and finance-technical sectors. 

As priority areas for practical collaboration, the parties identified green energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, healthcare, and tourism.

To promote joint projects, an agreement was reached on establishing mechanisms such as an Investment Platform and a Business Council and opening a trade house in Kuwait City.

Special attention was given to expanding the portfolio of projects with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development within the framework of a new Partnership Program. 

Additionally, an agreement was reached to hold cross-cultural and tourism weeks in Uzbekistan and Kuwait, facilitating the active participation of representatives from both countries in cultural and humanitarian events related to art, music, cinema, education, and sports.

The importance of continuing mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other prestigious international organizations was emphasized.

Joint measures were discussed for preparing and hosting the upcoming Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council Dialogue Summit, scheduled to take place in Samarkand this May.

Following the talks, the heads of state decided to develop and strengthen a comprehensive partnership. 

The President of Uzbekistan invited the Amir of Kuwait to visit Uzbekistan.
