Historical agreement on Kyrgyz-Tajik border delimitation signed in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - "On February 21, the important events took place in the city of Bishkek, which the commissions of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on delimitation and demarcation have been talking about for a long time. It has happened!" the head of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, Saimumin Yatimov, said.

According to him, this event occurred due to the will of the heads of state of both countries, Emomali Rahmon and Sadyr Japarov.

"After long, difficult, but still effective work, documents on water-energy and road-transport infrastructure have been prepared and initialed. The most important historical document that was initialed on February 21 is the agreement on delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border," he said.

Yatimov mentioned that finally, these documents have logically reached completion.

"These important legal documents will be presented to the highest leadership of both countries for consideration and signing. If they are legalized, it will bring an end to the 100-year dispute between the two fraternal countries concerning the border issue. These historical documents, once signed by the heads of state, will serve the historical aspirations of our peoples. They will serve the political, social, cultural, economic, and other interests," the co-chair of the government commissions on the delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border said.
