AKIPRESS.COM - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Mongolia's Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance strategic cooperation in combating graft, New Straits Times reported.
The agreement, signed at IAAC's headquarters in Ulaanbaatar on February 25, aims to strengthen collaboration in information sharing, experience exchange, and adopting best practices in anti-corruption efforts.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki and IAAC director and commissioner general Dashdavaa Zandraa formalised the partnership, which stemmed from discussions during a bilateral meeting at the 2023 Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (COSP) in Atlanta.
Azam said the MoU is not merely a formal agreement but a crucial step toward fostering international cooperation in the fight against corruption.
"This MoU is not just a formal agreement but an essential step in effectively combating corruption through sharing best practices, capacity building, and strengthened cooperation in investigations. No country can tackle corruption alone, and international collaboration is the key to success," he said.
As part of the visit, the MACC delegation also paid a courtesy call on Mongolia's Attorney General, Jargalsaikhan Banzragch, on February 26 to reinforce bilateral ties and explore further cooperation between MACC and Mongolia's enforcement institutions.
The delegation also toured IAAC's newly established training centre, which serves as a regional hub for anti-corruption officer training and capacity development.
Also present was MACC's Policy, Planning, and Research Director, Rasidah Abdul Karim.
