
AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from Georgia led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who is on an official visit to Uzbekistan, on March 5, UzA reported.
The sides discussed expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, transport and logistics, tourism, and cultural sectors.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the increasing contacts at the parliamentary and governmental levels. The mutual trade turnover grew by 50% in 2024, and joint ventures and cargo turnover increased. Direct flights between the capitals are in operation. Uzbekistan is home to a digital bank created with the participation of Georgian investors. In the humanitarian sphere, the Uzbek Culture and Cinema Days were successfully held in Tbilisi last year.
At the meeting, the productive outcomes of the latest session of the Intergovernmental Commission, held recently in Tashkent, were praised.
The importance of taking measures to maintain the rate of trade turnover, ensure balanced exports and imports, promote industrial cooperation projects, efficiently utilize transport and transit potential, and actively involve regional economies of both countries in economic cooperation was emphasized.
Special attention was given to expanding partnerships and exchanges in digitalization and tourism infrastructure development.
An agreement was reached on further close cooperation at the government level between Uzbekistan and Georgia to ensure the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
