Uzbekistan's green energy output surpasses 2 billion kWh in Q1 2025

AKIPRESS.COM - Since the start of 2025, Uzbekistan has generated more than 2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green electricity, according to a report from the Ministry of Energy's press service, Kun.uz reported.

As of 3:30 PM on April 12, the total volume of electricity produced by solar and wind power plants had surpassed 2 billion kWh. Currently, 11 solar power plants (SPPs) and 3 wind power plants (WPPs) with a combined capacity of 4.06 GW are operational across 10 regions of the country.

Out of the total green energy generated, solar power plants produced 1.16 billion kWh, while wind power plants generated 830.1 million kWh. The Ministry of Energy noted that in under 3.5 months, wind farms produced more electricity than they did throughout all of 2024 (799 million kWh).

For comparison, solar power plants in the Navoi and Samarkand regions produced 434 million kWh in 2022 and 576.9 million kWh in 2023. Last year, the total green electricity output from 9 SPPs and 1 WPP across 7 regions amounted to 4.86 billion kWh.
