
AKIPRESS.COM - The governor of Iran’s Hormozgan province, Mohammad Ashouri, declared a three-day public mourning in the region after an explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, the IRIB TV channel reports.
The explosion occurred on April 26 due to a fuel tank fire. According to media reports, the explosion was heard on Kish Island located 20 kilometers from the port.
As a result of the incident, 28 people were killed and over 1,000 were injured.
In connection with the tragedy, the authorities declared April 27 a day off for universities, schools and administrative institutions in Bandar Abbas.
