Ministry of Education, Peace Corps sign MoU to advance English language education in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Peace Corps signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their joint commitment to advancing English language education and supporting the professional development of teachers in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The MoU strengthens the longstanding cooperation between the Ministry and Peace Corps, including on their shared goal of increasing the number of English Education Volunteers assigned in educational organizations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

"This agreement represents a shared vision between Peace Corps and the Ministry of Education and Science to support teachers and expand opportunities for students through the English language," said Hoyt Brian Yee, Country Director of Peace Corps Kyrgyz Republic.

Since 1993, over 1350 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in the Kyrgyz Republic. There are currently 44 Peace Corps English Education Volunteers assigned to schools around the country and four Peace Corps Eco-Tourism Response Volunteers helping local partners promote sustainable tourism and improve their English language skills.
