Bishkek breaks temperature record on May 16 and becomes hottest in history

AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek on May 16, 2025 broke the temperature record for this date over the entire period of meteorological observations, according to the "Weather and Climate" website.

The maximum air temperature reached 35.2°C, which is 10.2 degrees above the climatic norm for this day.

Typically, the average temperature in Bishkek in May is 17.8°C, but this year it has reached 23.0°C, exceeding the norm by 6.5 degrees.

The data covers the period from 1936 to 2025.

Earlier, Kyrgyzhydromet clarified that the absolute temperature record for May was set in 2018, when on May 11, weather stations recorded 36.7°C. Before that, the record was 35.6°C, set in 2001.
