5-magnitude earthquake jolts Naryn region

AKIPRESS.COM - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 occurred in Naryn region on the morning of June 7 at 9:33 am, the Institute of Seismology reported.

The epicenter was located 15 km southeast of Orto-Syrt village, 20 km northeast of Ak-Beyit village, 25 km southwest of Kazybek village, 37 km southeast of Bayetovo village and 78 km southwest of the town of Naryn.

Tremors were felt in multiple villages:

  • 4.5 magnitude in Orto-Syrt and Kara-Bulak,
  • 4.0 magnitude in Kyzyl-Tuu, Kazybek, Kara-Bulun and Ak-Beyit,
  • 3.5 magnitude in Bayetovo, Terek, Kara-Suu, Dyykan, Ak-Chiy, Ak-Zhar, At-Bashy, and Terek-Suu villages.

As of now, no casualties or damage have been reported. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation.
