Mongolia judoka wins bronze medal in World Judo Championships

AKIPRESS.COM - Gangkhaich Bold won a bronze medal in the women's 63 kg weight category on the fourth day of the World Judo Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Montsame reported.

Judoka Gangkhaich defeated Korea's Shin Chaewon and Austria's Ljubljana Piovesana in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals. However, Gankhaich lost to Japan's Haruka Kaju in the group stage, and then defeated the host country's Szabina Gercsak in the next match to qualify for the bronze medal.

In the deciding match, Gankhaich won against Rafaela Silva from Brazil, two-time world champion and Olympic champion, and received the bronze medal.

After four days, the Mongolian judo team is ranked 11th out of 93 countries with two bronze medals.
