Kyrgyzstan, EU discuss issues of cooperation and programs

AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Meder Abakirov held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Olof Skoog.

The meeting took place within the framework of the High-Level Dialogue on Policy and Security between Central Asia and the European Union on July 11, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Abakirov provided an overview of the socio-political reforms underway in Kyrgyzstan, the development of democratic institutions, the safeguarding of fundamental human rights, and the economic measures taken to ensure sustainable development in the country.

The two sides discussed issues of cooperation, the EU's programmes in Kyrgyzstan, and future steps aimed at expanding their partnership.

Additionally, both parties focused on organizing high-level visits in the near future.
