
AKIPRESS.COM - Chairman of the People's Assembly of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid a visit to Azerbaijan, during which he attended a ceremony of laying foundation of a mosque that will be built in Fizuli city, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.
Upon completion of the XII Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Gabala on October 7, the heads of delegations took part in the ceremony through videoconferencing.
Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Berdimuhamedov called this day "a historic event", adding that Turkmen people consider the construction of roads, bridges, and mosques as "a sacred deed".
From the site where the foundation of the mosque was laid down, the muftis of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan recited verses from the Quran.
A capsule with an honouring writing was laid in the foundation of the mosque.
The construction of the mosque will be carried with the support of Turkmenistan's Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.
