Mongolia Japan Hospital introduces selective laser trabeculoplasty system

AKIPRESS.COM - The Mongolia Japan Hospital of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) has introduced the Ellex SLT Tango selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) system, a state-of-the-art technology designed to reduce intraocular pressure, Montsame reported.

The installation was carried out through cooperation between MNUMS and the Australian international organization "Sight for All", with support from the Embassy of the Commonwealth of Australia in Mongolia.

According to international clinical guidelines, the Ellex SLT Tango used for selective laser trabeculoplasty is recognized as a safe and highly effective first-line treatment for open-angle glaucoma. The new technology is expected to significantly improve the quality and accessibility of glaucoma care in Mongolia.

MNUMS reported that the opening ceremony was attended by MNUMS Rector Damdindorj Boldbaatar, Ambassador of Australia to Mongolia Leo Zeng, President of the Mongolia Japan Hospital Bayasgalan Purevdorj, as well as faculty members, ophthalmologists, staff, and resident doctors from the Department of Ophthalmology.
