
AKIPRESS.COM - The year 2025 was a successful one for Osh State University. It ranked 316th out of 1,526 universities included in the QS Asia Rankings 2026 and 22nd out of 74 universities in Central Asia.
The university, which holds a special status, has successfully integrated education, science, and industry, thereby strengthening dual education. The sustainable development model of Osh State University - based on independent standard-setting as well as academic and financial autonomy - is being successfully implemented during the 2023–2026 period.

Dual degree programs with international partners have expanded significantly. In the QS Sustainability Rankings, which included 2,022 universities, Osh State University was ranked 1251st for environmental and social impact and 1107th for governance, placing it overall in the TOP 1500 universities worldwide.
Previously, the university received four stars in the QS Stars Rating System.
The main strength of Osh State University lies in its ability to commercialize scientific projects and invest in innovation. The university has been recognized as an institution that has confidently taken steps toward global rankings and has successfully introduced Kyrgyzstan to the international academic community.
WHAT IS OSH STATE UNIVERSITY DOING TO BECOME A FOURTH-GENERATION UNIVERSITY?
Osh State University has successfully implemented the University-Science-Industry-Commercialization model of collaboration. As part of this effort, the IRCAPS Research Center has been established to study air pollution and its impact on human health. For this purpose, monitoring sensors will be installed both indoors and outdoors. Scientists from Tokyo will work at the center, conducting joint research together with specialists from Osh State University.
In addition, a Center for the Early Detection of Oncological Diseases will begin operating near the newly constructed Medical Clinic. The center will introduce new educational programs in oncology, radiology, and medical informatics for students and medical professionals. Advanced technologies - including artificial intelligence and bioinformatics - will be applied, and specialized databases and analytical systems will be developed.
Furthermore, the Center for Satellite Analysis and Remote Sensing, the Central Asian Critical Minerals Innovation Center, and the Consulting Center for Mountain Ecosystem Conservation and Green Innovations have been established and are currently operating actively.
Through these initiatives, Osh State University has emerged as a leading institution in Central Asia, transforming science, innovation, and technology into a foundation for the future.

2025: 351 ARTICLES PUBLISHED IN SCOPUS-INDEXED JOURNALS
More than 10% of the scientific leaders of Kyrgyzstan work at Osh State University. Let us present this achievement in concrete figures.
Osh State University is one of the country’s leading universities in terms of the number of academic staff holding scientific degrees. In 2025, 5 doctoral dissertations and 39 candidate (PhD) dissertations were successfully defended. As a result, the total number of Candidates of Science (PhD) and Doctors of Science at the university reached 600.
In 2025, university researchers published 351 articles in scientific journals indexed in the Scopus database. Between 2021 and 2025, the total number of Scopus-indexed publications increased sixfold, reaching 857 articles.
Researchers from Osh State University rank fourth in Kyrgyzstan in terms of the number of scientific publications. Their work has appeared in leading international journals classified in Q1, Q2, and Q3 quartiles. The impact factor of the journal Bulletin of Osh State University continues to grow, and the university’s scientific achievements are gaining international recognition.
The university focuses its research activities on addressing socio-economic challenges. Over the past five years, projects totaling 51 million soms have been implemented through internal grant funding. In the 2025–2026 academic year, the university implemented 30 innovative projects at the institutional level, as well as 3 national and 8 international projects. In line with the University 4.0 model, Osh State University has integrated industrial and scientific projects and has signed 8 cooperation agreements.

2025: 84 UNIQUE OPERATIONS PERFORMED AT THE MEDICAL CLINIC
Kidney transplantation, heart stent placement, and the closure of congenital defects were among the unique medical procedures performed at the university’s medical clinic this year.
In 2025, the clinic achieved a major breakthrough in transplantation medicine. Experienced doctors from Osh State University, in collaboration with colleagues from Russia, successfully performed two kidney transplants. In addition, a liver transplant was approved and recently carried out successfully.
This year also marked the first implantation of a cardiac pacemaker at the clinic. To date, 82 patients have undergone endovascular procedures. The clinic provided outpatient care to 6,000 patients, while 6,685 staff members and students completed medical examinations for health certification. Preventive medical screenings were conducted for 1,800 students. More than 2,000 patients received treatment in the therapy department, and 105 critically ill patients were treated in the intensive care unit. A total of 110 surgical procedures were performed, including 20 cardiovascular surgeries.
Through the “Health Caravan” outreach project, clinic doctors provided free medical care to approximately 1,000 rural residents each month.
By presidential decree, a new seven-story medical clinic is being constructed at Osh State University. The construction is scheduled for completion in 2026. The clinic will be located on a 2-hectare campus and will house departments in nine medical specialties, as well as six research and rehabilitation centers. Once operational, the clinic is expected to significantly reduce the outflow of medical professionals from the region.

100+ STUDENTS FROM OSH STATE UNIVERSITY ENROLLED IN DUAL DEGREE PROGRAMS
In 2025, Osh State University successfully expanded its dual degree programs. The university is currently cooperating with partner institutions in Russia, Kazakhstan, and China across 22 academic specialties.
Today, Osh State University offers more than 20 dual degree programs, with over 100 students enrolled. Under these programs, students study for two years at Osh State University and two years at a partner university, graduating with two diplomas simultaneously. These programs have been steadily expanding since 2018.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, the number of international students enrolled through dual degree programs exceeded 10,000. The majority of these students came from Uzbekistan, India, and Russia.
The university has signed cooperation agreements with leading universities in Russia, Kazakhstan, and China in 32 specialties, of which 22 are currently active. As part of these partnerships, 12 master’s students studied at Belgorod State University, Tomsk State University, and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, successfully earning dual diplomas.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, 41 international faculty members from the United States, Turkey, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, China, and other countries will work at Osh State University.

BUSINESS PARK ATTRACTED OVER 3 MILLION SOMS IN INVESTMENT
The Business Park, a platform for the development of student startups, operates at Osh State University. In 2025, the park supported 21 startup teams. The G-Face and ZN Inclusive projects won grants totaling 851,000 soms.
Over the course of the year, 602 students completed entrepreneurship training programs, and 51 startups were actively operating. As a result, 89 permanent jobs were created.
In 2025, 14 newly launched startups began operating through the Business Park. These startups attracted 3,265,950 soms in investments and grants from various sources, leading to the creation of 23 new jobs.
To date, the total volume of investment attracted by the Business Park exceeds 16.5 million soms.

MORE THAN 1,000 STUDENTS OF OSH STATE UNIVERSITY HAVE STUDIED AT PARTNER INSTITUTIONS
In 2025, Osh State University further expanded its international cooperation. Over the past five years, more than 800 international students and faculty members have studied at the university. During the same period, over 1,200 Osh State University students participated in academic mobility programs at leading higher education institutions worldwide.
The university has also taken a significant step toward promoting the Kyrgyz language and culture. Cultural and educational centers of Osh State University have been opened at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan) and the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. At the same time, Osh State University hosts centers dedicated to the Kazakh and Uzbek languages, as well as the Lomonosov Center of Moscow State University.
In 2025, the rectorate status of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) University, previously held by another member institution, was officially transferred to Osh State University.
In addition, the university was awarded the chairmanship of the Coordination Council of the Eurasian Branch University. Accordingly, in 2026, Osh State University will chair both of these international organizations. This represents clear evidence of the growing trust placed in the university by the international academic community.
Thus, 2025 marked a year in which Osh State University strengthened its global partnerships, expanded its cultural outreach, and secured a ????????? (prominent) position on the international stage.
2025: OSHSU WINS GOLD AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
The year 2025 was also highly successful for the university’s sports sector, particularly on the international stage. At the U-20 World Championship in Bulgaria, OshSU student Jantoro Mirzaliev won a gold medal, becoming the sixth world champion in the history of Kyrgyzstan.
Freestyle wrestling student Oskonbay Abdisamatov claimed a silver medal at the Champions Cup 2025. In addition, OshSU athletes achieved victories at World and Asian Championships, as well as at various international competitions.

In football, FC OshSU finished sixth in the Kyrgyz Premier League. The club was awarded a Foton team bus, and the team temporarily played its home matches at the reconstructed Manas Stadium in Kara-Suu.
The OshSU men’s volleyball team became champions of the Higher League, while the women’s team secured second place in the National League and won the President’s Cup of the Volleyball Federation.
The basketball team, BK University OshSU, also achieved success by finishing third in the national championship.
At the Kyrgyz Interuniversity Universiade, OshSU placed fourth in the overall team standings and won medals in ten sports disciplines. Among university employees, OshSU secured first place at the “Den Sooluk” Sports Festival.

2025: WHAT ACHIEVEMENTS DID OUR STUDENTS CREATE?
In 2025, nine students were awarded presidential scholarships, the highest and most prestigious student award in Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, the “Atulduk Scholarship”, often referred to as the Nobel Prize for students, was granted to ten students, each receiving 12,000 soms per month for a year.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, the “TOP-20 Students of Osh State University” were selected through the AVN program, with each student receiving 10,000 soms and valuable gifts.
A special highlight this year was the first awarding of the Kanybek Isakov Scholarship, which granted a one-time award of 10,000 soms to ten students.

Our students also excelled in Olympiads and competitions. In 2025, approximately 100 students participated in the XII Regional Olympiad, with half of them becoming winners.
Furthermore, first-year students received comprehensive medical examinations free of charge at the university clinic - one of many opportunities provided by Osh State University, which continues to expand each year.

2025: WHICH DIGITAL PLATFORMS WERE LAUNCHED?
Osh State University has developed and launched a comprehensive roadmap for the digitization of education and information services for 2024–2029.
As part of this roadmap, the MyEDU automated learning platform is now fully operational, providing an advanced system that allows students to create and manage their own learning trajectories.
In addition, the mooc.oshsu.kg digital education portal is fully functional, offering online learning resources for both undergraduate and graduate students. A dedicated video studio was established to enhance the quality of distance learning, and approximately 300 video lessons were produced within one year.
To ensure open and transparent academic services, the process of obtaining certificates has been fully automated and moved to the next.oshsu.kg platform. This is a significant step that conveniently serves students while reducing the risk of corruption within the university.

CONSTRUCTION AT OSHSU: 100-SEAT KINDERGARTEN AND 7-STORY CLINIC

In 2025, the “Yiman” Lyceum was completely renovated and reopened. The 100-seat kindergarten was modernized. Construction is underway for a seven-story medical clinic at 157 Kurmanzhan-Datka Street, a two-story practice center on the campus of Vocational Lyceum No. 12, and a nine-story dormitory on the OshSU land plot at 5 Monuev Street.
Throughout the year, all academic buildings were renovated, and auditoriums and conference halls were upgraded. The university’s own furniture workshop produced new furniture, including cabinets, tables, and chairs.

Today, Osh State University boasts the largest infrastructure in the country, including 32 academic buildings, 2 medical clinics, 10 student dormitories, 2 faculty dormitories, modern sports complexes, the Congress Resort OshSU on the shores of Ak-Buura, and a boarding house on Issyk-Kul.
