AKIPRESS.COM - The office of Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, has confirmed his death, describing him as one of the country's most influential leaders.
A statement released by his office expressed a final spiritual sentiment, noting that he had "reunited with God."
President Masoud Pezeshkian has vowed to avenge Larijani’s death, promising "harsh revenge" against the "criminal terrorists" responsible for the strike and labeling the act an aggression against the "martyrs of the holy land of Iran."
Tasnim news agency reported the attack also claimed the lives of one of Larijani’s sons and his head of security, though Iranian authorities did not initially specify the cause of death.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Larijani was killed during an Israeli strike on Tehran. The Israel Defense Forces further reported the death of Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the paramilitary Basij forces, in a separate strike. On Tuesday evening, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officially confirmed Soleimani’s death, marking a significant loss for Iran's military and security leadership.
