
AKIPRESS.COM - The National Tree Planting Day campaign began at the National Garden Park, with more than 70 organizations, groups, and families participating in tree planting activities, Montsame reported.
Opening the event, Chairman of the Ulaanbaatar City Council Ikhbayar Dashnyam that the One Billion Trees national movement was announced in 2021 and has since been implemented nationwide.
He also noted that regularly organizing tree-planting days in spring and autumn has increased citizens' ecological awareness and participation.
This year, trees will be planted at the centralized waste disposal sites of Ulaanchuluut, Narangiin Enger, and Tsagaandavaa in the capital city.
He urged every citizen to plant trees, reminding them that one mature tree provides an average of MNT 194 million worth of ecological and social benefits.
According to the City Council, government agencies, private sector organizations, civil society groups, and citizens are participating in this nationwide tree-planting campaign, which aims to contribute to expanding green spaces and mitigating climate change by planting 10,000 trees.
