AKIPRESS.COM - Foreign Minister of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh held talks with Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi.

The sides agreed to strengthen alignment of their development strategies, advance projects under the frameworks of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and Mongolia's Steppe Road Program, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors, and further enhance the scale, quality, and level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Both countries agreed to maintain regular communication on international and regional affairs. Mongolia reiterated its support for building a community with a shared future for humanity, as well as for the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative.

As part of economic cooperation, the parties discussed the implementation of the goal set by the two heads of state to increase trade turnover to $20 billion, increase mining and agricultural exports, improve infrastructure construction and port infrastructure, expand cooperation in the oil, energy, and investment sectors, and accelerate the implementation of projects funded by concessional loans and grants.

Support was also reaffirmed for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention to Combat Desertification, which will be held in Ulaanbaatar in August. Furthermore, a commitment was expressed to cooperate in the supply of vaccines in response to the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in the western provinces.

Following the negotiations, a cooperation plan for 2026-2027 was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
