AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolia and South Korea have signed 21 documents on developing bilateral cooperation, Montsame reported.

Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs of Mongolia Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea Cho Hyun signed Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Driving Licenses. Citizens of both countries traveling for up to one year will be able to drive vehicles in the respective country using their international driving permits.

Minister of Finance Mendsaikhan Zagdjav and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yun Cheol signed Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Second National Cancer Center.

The commissioning of the 600-bed National Cancer Center, which features a comprehensive complex for cancer prevention, diagnostics, treatment, academic research, and training, will make a vital contribution to preventing cancer, increasing access to treatment, and reducing mortality rates.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Battsetseg Batmunkh and Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between Foreign Policy and Diplomatic Training Institutions. 

The sides will exchange information on training, seminars, and academic research, and organize joint training courses, lectures, and conferences. They will support exchanges of diplomatic staff, experts, and students, and cooperate on topics such as international relations, diplomatic affairs, and global governance.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development Enkhbayar Jadamba and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung Hoon signed Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Technological Cooperation. 

The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in the science and technology sectors, conduct joint research in biotechnology, critical minerals, environment, climate change, energy, information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and other fields, while facilitating the exchange of experts, researchers, and information.

Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Communications Nomin Chinbat and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung Hoon signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Digital Development.

Cooperation in areas such as AI, digital transformation, 5G/6G networks, and digital infrastructure will create conditions for strengthening human resource capacity and supporting innovation-driven sustainable development. This will increase Mongolia's digital development and technological competitiveness.

Minister of Education Enkh‐Amgalan Luvsantseren and Minister of Education Choi Kyu Jin signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Education. The parties will cooperate in supporting the exchange of students, teacher-trainers, researchers, and educational administration officials, implementing joint programs, and collaborating on curricula, teacher training, and educational quality. They will also partner to reform vocational and technical education and training to align with labor market needs and industrial demand.

Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sandag-Ochir Tsend and Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kwon Oh Eul signed Memorandum of Cooperation signed Memorandum of Understanding on the Protection, Operation, and Promotion of the Lee Tae-joon Memorial Park.

Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Iderbat Tsagaankhuu and Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi Ryeong signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Food and Agriculture Sector. The nations will exchange information on agricultural and rural development policies, expand technical cooperation and expert exchanges, and strengthen foreign trade and supply chains to ensure food security. They will also exchange experience and knowledge in agricultural mechanization, irrigated farming, smart farming, and modern greenhouse management, alongside improving veterinary services, agro-product processing, and livestock registration systems.

Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Iderbat Tsagaankhuu and Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jong Gwan signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Distribution and Logistics. This agreement will expand export opportunities for agro-food products, improve supply and distribution systems, increase logistical efficiency, and strengthen the sustainability, quality, and safety of food supply chains.

Minister of Health Batshugar Enkhbayar and Minister of Health and Welfare Jeong Eun Kyeong signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Healthcare and Medical Sciences. The parties agreed to build human resource capacity, strengthen the supply chain of essential medicines, introduce advanced healthcare and medical methods/technologies, exchange doctors and specialists, share information, and implement joint projects and programs.

Minister of Energy Naidalaa Badrakh and Minister of Climate, Energy, and Environment Kim Sung Hwan signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Energy Transition. The sides agreed to cooperate on implementing renewable energy projects and programs, expanding power transmission infrastructure, supporting environmentally friendly heating solutions, exchanging information and technology, and strengthening human resource capacity.

Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Aldarjavkhlan Jukov and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hee Yeon signed Cultural Exchange Program for 2026–2030. This program will support cooperation in preserving and protecting cultural heritage and foster ties among artists in culture and arts. It will also intensify cooperation in the creative cultural sectors, including studying filmmaking management experience and supporting music industry organizations in establishing mutual ties.

Minister of Family, Labor and Social Protection Aubakir Tileukhan and Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Young-hoon signed Memorandum of Understanding on Sending and Receiving Workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS).

Cooperation will expand to organize employment activities in South Korea in an open and transparent manner, jointly raise awareness and ensure strict compliance with the relevant legislation of both countries among citizens, and create a healthy and safe working environment for employees.

Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Iderbat Tsagaankhuu and Administrator of the Rural Development Administration Lee Seung-dong signed Memorandum of Understanding on Capacity Building for Livestock, Food Safety, and Agricultural Technology. This defines the basic principles, directions, and scope of cooperation in crop farming, livestock husbandry, agricultural technology, innovation, and the registration, regulation, and management of agricultural products, expanding collaboration in sectors of mutual interest.

Minister of Finance Mendsaikhan Zagdjav, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Tsend Sandag-Ochir, and Minister of the Forest Service Park Eun Shik signed Memorandum of Understanding on Climate Change Response, Desertification, Yellow Dust Storms, Forest Degradation, and Forest Restoration. This aims to support the "Green Wall" and "Billions of Trees" national movements through international cooperation. Comprehensive initiatives will include afforestation in vulnerable areas, restoration of forests and degraded lands, strengthening systems to prevent forest fires, pests, and diseases, developing agroforestry and eco-tourism, expanding green spaces in urban areas, and developing tree nursery infrastructure.

Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sandag-Ochir Tsend and Minister of the Forest Service Park Eun Shik signed Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Capacity for Forest-Friendly Climate-Positive Actions in Mongolia.

In support of "One Billion Trees" national movement, this introduces nature-based solutions, afforestation, forest/landscape restoration, seed management system development, and the reinforcement of tree nurseries. The Korea Forest Service will share its successful afforestation experience and advanced technologies. The Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) will provide support through an international cooperation platform, technical assistance, training, research, and by helping attract international climate finance.

Governor of the Bank of Mongolia Narantsogt Sanjaa and Governor of the Bank of Korea Shin Hyun Song signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and Technical Assistance in Central Bank Operations. Information and experience related to central bank operations will be exchanged. The sides will cooperate in monetary policy, financial system stability, foreign exchange transactions, financial markets, payment and settlement systems, macroeconomics, forecasting and analysis, human resource development, and the utilization of digital and AI technologies.

President of the Academy of Sciences Demberel Sodnomsambuu and Head of the Korea Heritage Service Heo Min signed Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Research for the Protection of Mongolian Natural Heritage. The parties will cooperate on conducting joint research, preservation, and restoration efforts focused on protecting the cultural and natural heritage of Gobi region.

Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum Chuluun Sampildondov Chuluun and Head of the Korea Heritage Service Heo Min signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Underwater Cultural Heritage. The institutions will partner to conduct joint research and exploration related to studying, protecting, and utilizing the value of underwater cultural heritage, training specialized personnel, organizing exhibitions, and public promotion.

Governor of New Kharkhorum City Khaltar Luvsan and Chairman of the National Agency for Administrative City Construction Kang Ju-yeob signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in New City Development. The sides will cooperate in fields such as administrative systems, urban planning, eco-friendly energy, water management, urban mobility, transport, and smart cities.

CEO of the Trade and Development Bank Orkhon O. and Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Export-Import Bank of Korea Hwang Ki-yeon signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Between the Trade and Development Bank of Mongolia and the Export-Import Bank of Korea. This agreement aims to approve interbank credit lines and provide financial support to the private sector operating in food, cosmetics, automotive parts, machinery and equipment, minerals, information and communications, and medical devices.
