Ousted president Askar Akayev's family pelted with eggs by protester in Berlin
Ousted President Askar Akayev and his family were pelted with eggs in Berlin on December 9 during his meeting with some Kyrgyzstanis in Germany.
Akayev was accompanied by his wife Mairam Akayeva and his daughter Bermet.
At the time of the incident, one of the activists there was livestreaming the meeting on one of the social networking sites.
About a dozen of Kyrgyzstanis were standing outside the building where Akayev had a meeting. They reportedly protested the meeting and some of them carried posters saying "Akayev ket!" (Akayev go away!). One of the protesters then bombarded the Akayevs with eggs when they were leaving.
The egg attack made Bermet Akayeva angry, she approached to the man that did it and got into a verbal conflict with him first and then attacked him with her purse in response to a repeated egg throw.
German police stepped in and everything ended.
According to the footage posted online, policeman questioned the man afterwards.
Askar Akayev fled Kyrgyzstan in 2005 after the March revolution. Since then, he has not returned to the country. He currently lives in Moscow. Akayev was President of Kyrgyzstan from 1990 to March 2005.
