Court extends ex-mayor Kulmatov's arrest for 2 months
Pervomay district court extended the arrest of ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov for 2 months.
Two criminal cases against Kulmatov are under investigation.
Kulmatov is accused of misuse of $2 million grant from Chinese company TBEA meant for the construction of 2 schools in regions. According to the authorities, Kulmatov has illegally transfered $1 million of grant to the mayor's office account conspiring with the Alto Group LLC company to build a school outside Bishkek.
The second accusation brought against Kulmatov is about his alleged Russian citizenship and illegal obtaining of Kyrgyz passport back in 1996.
Kulmatov denied any wrongdoing.
