The Roza Otunbayeva Initiative Public Foundation in cooperation with the Embassy of India organized a Conference “Mahatma Gandhi & Modern India” in Bishkek Humanitarian University on June 8.
Apart from Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, academicians, writers and public activists participated in the conference. The Ambassador of India spoke on the economic development in India. More than 10 presentations including on the following themes were made:
i) Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru;
ii) Lessons from life of Mahatma Gandhi and the actual problems in society;
iii) Mahatma Gandhi and the value systems of Indian civilizations;
iv) India-Kyrgyzstan bilateral relations;
v) Economic Development of India
The conference coincided with the release of Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography in Kyrgyz language named: “The Story of My Experiments with Truth”.
The book of Mahatma Gandhi gives Kyrgyz readers the chance to learn more about the principles of non-violence and Satyagrah (insistence on truth) given by Mahatma Gandhi through his life.
